What if there was an easy secret to having more positive thoughts throughout every day?   Would that rock your world!?  Let’s start with a question: “What are your very first thoughts when you wake up?”

Your very first thoughts…  Most people say,

• “I think about work.”
• “I grab my phone.”
• “I wish I could sleep longer.”
• “I don’t think of anything.”
• “I thank God for loving me.”

Studies show that people who start the day happy or calm typically stay that way throughout the day, but those who start on the wrong foot rarely climb out of their hole.

The secret is all in how you start!  I was at a weekend baseball tournament and a coach told his players, “You can’t win them all unless you win the first one.”  He was right on. It’s all in how you start.

When we wake up and spend our first moments of the day with God – it means that we start our day by winning the first one!  Jesus even modeled this for us, because he got up before daybreak and went out alone to pray. ^{Mark 1:35}

Spending time alone – but still with God – gives us the opportunity to set the course for our day.   We get to thank God.  We get to gain his strength.  We get to re-set our perspective.  We get to think about others from God’s point of view.
