Did you know that God rejoices over you with singing!  Yes he does!  God thinks you are so amazing and wonderful that he rejoices over you with singing.  Together, let’s discover why!

Can you remember the very first time someone said, “I love you!”  Oh, how we soaked those words into our souls.  While we still enjoy those same words after many years of marriage, nothing makes our hearts go flutter like that first time.

In the same way, many of us have heard “God loves us” so many times that we can occasionally take it for granted.   When you add the fact that you and I are not always so lovable, there’s probably times when it’s hard to even believe that we have a God who loves us so much.

With all this in mind, consider that the Bible raises the bar higher yet:  It says, “The Lord takes great delight in you and rejoices over you with singing.”  ^{Zephaniah 3:17}

God rejoices over me?  Really?  I struggled to believe this for most of my adult life.

But when I was 47 years old, I got a Friday afternoon phone call from an adoption attorney.  She said a little boy was going to be born on Monday and he could be ours!

Three days later, with trembling hands and heart, I held my little boy just minutes after his birth, and I began to cry with joy.  I sobbed as I held the first newborn baby I had ever held – and praised God as I promised this tiny, precious soul that I would love him for the rest of my life.

And I have not stopped crying since.  I still cry with joy when I think how much I love both of my adopted kids.

Even as an imperfect dad, I get it.   I get to love someone so much, that I can rejoice over them with singing!!

What a glimpse of what heaven must be like!  Let’s praise our God, our Father who adopted us as his children, who rejoices over us with singing!
