MIRACLE OR LUCK? – Daily Devotional
I broke my neck a year ago. I slipped and fell while loading a cement grinder onto my pickup truck. My head hit the grinder and tore off the top of my scalp all the way to my ear – just like a banana peel, while my C1 suffered a burst fracture.
As they wheeled me into surgery, the doctor warned my wife it was a “hangman’s break” and said most people die or become paralyzed. But today I’m still walking and living. I wore a neck collar for three months, but the Frankenstein scar on my head is healed, my hair grew back and the doctors tell me that I’m very lucky. . . Lucky indeed.
When something wonderful happens, do you praise God for his blessings or count it as luck? Perhaps you want to hold onto God’s favor but the enemy whispers – telling you that nothing happened but fate or coincidence.
Now imagine reading the Bible if it wasn’t plumb full of doubters like Thomas (John 20:24-29)
and Moses (Ex 4:10-14). Even though God personally talked to these guys, they still struggled with faith versus fate issues.
But like the doubters on so many pages in the Bible, in the depths of my heart I know better. I believe God’s angels held me up and kept me safe. (Psalm 91)
And because of this accident, I got an opportunity to see life, death, strength and weakness in whole new ways. But mostly, I got a chance to praise God from a whole different perspective.
Wouldn’t it be great to be able to silence the enemy who whispers, then shouts lies and doubts? Let us help you with our free excerpt from my book, “Confronting the Liar – Heaven’s Prescription for Defeating Satan’s Lies.” No matter what comes your way – good or bad, right or wrong – you can live the abundant life that Jesus wants for you. You can have it now.
What a miracle indeed.
