A Thought-Provoking Call to Defeat Darkness

Mark Arens’ Why Wait to Be Happy? Stop Listening to Satan’s Lies offers a compelling, faith-based guide that encourages readers to live abundantly by exposing and combating the enemy’s deceit. The book draws upon scripture and personal reflections, aiming to empower readers with practical strategies rooted in God’s wisdom. Arens presents the concept of “Little Big Things” — small but impactful shifts in thinking and behavior that can have profound effects on our spiritual and emotional lives.

The author’s conversational tone makes the book accessible to a broad audience. Instead of overwhelming the reader with complex theology, Arens breaks down essential biblical principles into digestible, actionable insights that feel achievable for everyday life. The focus on “little tweaks” is a refreshing take, emphasizing that spiritual growth doesn’t require monumental changes overnight.

Arens effectively integrates biblical passages, making them the foundation for each lesson. His use of scripture is clear and relevant, connecting the spiritual battle against Satan’s lies with real-life applications. For readers seeking guidance grounded in the Bible, this is a major strength.

Throughout the book, Arens uses personal anecdotes and vivid examples that bring his points to life. These stories make the content relatable, adding a layer of humanity to the spiritual lessons. Readers can see themselves in the struggles and victories shared, which deepens the emotional connection to the material.

One of the most valuable aspects of this book is its focus on resisting Satan’s lies and reclaiming our God-given identity. The book reminds us of our power through Christ and encourages readers not to passively accept suffering or mediocrity, but to fight for the abundant life God has promised.

While the central message is crucial, there are moments where certain ideas, particularly the contrast between abundance and scarcity, feel overemphasized.

BOTTOM LINE: Why Wait to Be Happy? delivers a powerful message of hope and resilience. It’s an encouraging read for those seeking to strengthen their spiritual walk and defeat the everyday lies that prevent us from living fully in God’s abundance.

Why Wait to be Happy is a Practical road map to happiness, I love how he emphasizes the small little things, such as Thanksgiving. It compares the little but subtle thinking that goes on in most of our heads where the enemy wants to destroy us, but it is not God’s plan for us to suffer or struggle with anxiety, depression, etc. Taking us back to our childhood playground then looking at our Chotic life now, why wait stop listening to satan’s lies. I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Mark Arens. There are so many great reminders of how we can release the shackles of guilt, shame, or a hate filled heart. The author uses a variation of personal anecdotes and scriptures to emphasize the many lessons one can take away from reading this book.

A beacon of hope, joy, and inspiration

One of the most powerful lessons that stood out for me was the authors story of the man who was angry at God because his wife died a painful death due to cancer. Mark’s message was that “we all need to be better record keepers and we can start by adding all the blessings we have been given.”

I highly recommend this book. There are valuable life (and eternal life) lessons that will bless both the believer and non believers alike. Truly a book I will come back and read over and over again!

Beautiful combination of personality and wisdom.

The little things are the big things 🙂 … there are adjustments you can make right now and be responsible for your own happiness. And as Arens says with all the passion in his heart, the joy comes from the source of abundant life Himself, who loves you endlessly. He wants us to have it all – all the stuff that really matters. This book is so well written, like a friend talking with you, and certainly not dry or boring. I would recommend it to anyone looking to rest in the peace of Christ, or just looking for a life where peace and joy are the norm.
