COME HOME TO GOD – God is Looking for You! – Daily Devotional – Little Big Things

Because of our sins, faults, and mistakes,
it’s natural to ask, “Does God even want us to come home?”

After all the times we’ve turned away from
Him, wouldn’t that make us a hypocrite?

The enemy will tell you yes, but he lies when he says:

You are so bad that you couldn’t possibly ask for forgiveness.
You’ve ignored God all this time – so it is way too awkward to want him now.

I know some people who have died sticking to their guns – refusing to allow God into their lives – simply because they thought it would be hypocritical.  What a hard stance.

But Jesus tells us that it is never too late to come home to God.  In the story of the prodigal son, Jesus described heaven this way, “The Father ran to his son and threw his arms around him and kissed him repeatedly.” LK 15:20

Repeatedly!!

So much kissing, I can only imagine that father holding tight to his son.   Then comes the first release as the father looks up at heaven with tears flooding his eyes, then back at his son and kissing him again, holding him tight, followed by another kiss, and then another out of sheer joy.

Every repeated kiss told the son that he was forgiven.  His sins forgotten, blotted out by the pure joy of having his son return home.   Kiss after kiss told the son that this love was real, and there was nothing to doubt, nothing to be questioned about the father’s joy to be reunited with his son.

Can you see the father walking into the village, his arm around his son, stopping every few steps to kiss his son once again, his face beaming with joy!

Let there be no doubt that Jesus told this story for me, for you and for anyone who would listen!  He said that heaven rejoices over every single one of us when we turn to God.  Luke 15:10

Imagine the angels beaming with joy!  This is how our Heavenly Father wants to be reunited with us!
