HOW OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN SEES US – Daily Devotions
How do you react when texters or inconsiderate drivers enter your life or your lane of traffic?
I used to be an excitable driver until a very wise friend asked me a simple question. . . “When your baby was learning to walk, did they fall down?”
“Of course,” I replied.
“They made a mistake,” he said matter-of-factly. “After all, your baby did not make it from point A to point B as intended.”
“I never thought of it that way.”
He asked if their “mistake” bothered me and of course I said, “No – when my babies fell down, my first response was to pick them back up and say, ‘You can do it. You can do it!’ and I encouraged them.”
My friend explained how we are all like babies learning to walk. He said, “We all fall down. Some more often than others. Some fall bigger and harder – but the bottom line is the same. . . We all fall down.”
One thing I know – with absolute certainty – is that I fall down, fall flat, or fall short every single day. I’m 60 years old and still have plenty of stumble in me. Am I ever glad that my perfect Daddy in heaven loves and encourages me to get back up and try again.
We all fall down. . . This simple fact has helped me to see other people in a whole new way. Even bad driving – it hardly phases me.
How does it phase you?
