HOW TO PREDICT THE FUTURE – Jesus Says, “Guard Your Heart” – Daily Devotional
Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you moved to a new town?
I went to a relatively small high school with a class of 200 graduates. Out of all my high school experiences, I’ll always remember the two new boys who showed up at study hall on the first morning of my junior year.
I overheard one of the boys as he asked the study hall teacher, “What kind of kids are in this school?” The wise teacher answered by asking the boy, “What kind of kids were in your old school?” The boy said, “They were terrible kids who gossiped, back-stabbed, bullied each other and never got along.” The teacher responded by saying, “Oh, I’m sorry but unless you are careful, you’re going to find much of the same at our school.”
Later that same morning, I was at my locker when that teacher happened to walk by. Just then, the other new boy came up and asked, “What are the kids like in this school?” The wise teacher asked the second boy the same question, “What kind of kids were in your old school?” The boy said, “They were wonderful, happy, respectful and I miss all of them so much!” The teacher said, “Oh, I’m sure that you’ll find many incredible kids at our school too.”
Over the next two years, I kept a special eye on those two boys. I suppose in retrospect that I shouldn’t have been surprised how the first boy became a loner who got into the wrong crowd and found a lot of trouble. The second boy had such a genuine smile that he became a friend magnet and everyone seemed to like him.
This story has enormous truth that speaks volumes towards predicting your future and mine.
“Wherever you go, there you are.”
Will you like it when you get there?
