IT’S NEVER TOO LATE FOR CALLING FRIENDS – Daily Devotional

Have you ever thought about calling someone but decided not to because you thought to yourself:

  • “I don’t want to bother them”
  • “They might be too busy to talk with me”
  • “It might be awkward because it has been so long”

The list of reasons not to call can be pretty compelling.  We even tell ourselves, “If they really wanted to talk with me, why haven’t they called me?”

So instead of calling your aunt Louise or your old college friend, you make the decision not to call.   A year passes and then another year, and pretty soon you feel like you are so out of touch that now it would be SUPER AWKWARD to call at this point.  Slowly but surely, our relationships drift away.

I think this feeling is so prevalent that many people think it might be awkward to call on God.  But Jesus tells us just the opposite.  He wants us to call on him, and wants to be the first one on your contact list!!

And speaking of contact lists, what if we simply scrolled through the A’s during our prayer time and asked God to bless those folks.  The next day, scroll through the B’s and after 26 days – roughly a month – you’ll have prayed for everyone you know!

As you repeat this process, your thoughts and prayers for these folks can’t help but grow in goodness and love.  And if you’re like me, it may even give you the courage to call and rekindle your relationships.

You’ll always be glad when you call on God.

And you’ll be glad you made those calls to your contact list as well!
