PRAISE THE LORD, OH MY SOUL! – Giving God Our EVERYTHING – Daily Devotional

If you ever want to witness an explosion, watch what happens when a hockey puck hits the net.  Arms erupt into the sky as bodies blast upward, fingers thrust and flay outstretched and the exhilarating high is hotter than fire engulfing a match!

What a moment!  Yet in just a twinkle of time – it all ends – oh so soon.  Like a snapshot in an everlasting video, our earthly joys are tiny teasers, mere morsels of the never-ending joys found in heaven.

And the proof of it is right here for us to see.  Just consider – as much as we may enjoy a hockey game, no one praises, worships or prays to hockey.  But we do praise, worship and pray to our almighty God!   When we are doing well, we thank our God, and when we struggle, we know our God is holding and loving us.

Is there any wonder that we can be in the midst of prayer and suddenly burst into a stream of tears?  Where else can this happen?  To whom, but our loving Jesus, does this happen?

Psalm 146 begins with, “Praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord, my soul.  I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”  Psalm 146

These words are present tense – Praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord, my soul, is a call for my entire being – my heart, mind and emotions to be filled with praise, every day and as long as I live. . .  What is more glorious than moments of praise and worship with God?

No matter where I am, no matter if I’m winning or losing, I know that Jesus’ love is with me.  With me right now!

Praise the Lord, oh my soul!  It can fill our hearts and souls with incomparable delight if we just let it.  Let’s praise the Lord!

And the crowd erupts with thunder!!
