Why So Many Christians Feel Like They are NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Are you tired of feeling like you’re not good enough?  Where you feel like you’re not measuring up, so negative thoughts creep into your mind.   Sometimes these dark thoughts can even make us Christians question if we are deserving of God’s love.

Christian man not feeling good enough, shame, fear, doubt, praying, Bible, desperate

If you’re tired of feeling this way and want to be happy right now this video is going to show you a new perspective and squash these feelings for good!

Let’s start with the cold fact that Satan loves when we feel overwhelmed this way.  He lies when he says, “If only you could be better. . . You know. . . Make fewer mistakes or be more friendly, giving, or thoughtful, maybe then. . . Perhaps then, you could finally feel like you’ve earned to be loved.”  Think about it!  He tries to make us think, “If I tithe, follow the Ten Commandments, and say 913 Lord’s prayers, then finally, I might start to feel good about myself!”

I’ll bet Satan cheers when we become super-religious over-achievers.  It’s a spiral filled with well-intentioned people who give all their stuff away, or become missionaries with the hidden, but main purpose of earning God’s love.  And the lie happens because Satan is encouraging us for more – more – and all for the wrong reasons.  He tells us that our 3.6GPA simply isn’t good enough, and only 4.0 Bible scholars make it to heaven.

When we put it this way, we can see how ridiculous this thinking can be.  IT KEEPS US TRAPPED IN A SELF-CENTERED UNIVERSE WHERE EVERY GOOD THING I DO IS STILL, ULTIMATELY, ABOUT ME.  Me earning it.  Me feeling good enough.  About me trying to save my own skin from hell.  Where we try to earn our salvation, as if we’re bargaining for a paycheck, claiming that we deserve heaven.

Let’s break free from the shackles of “not good enough” and the relentless pursuit of self-validation.  Instead, right now, let’s discover the true path to happiness, where love and acceptance await, not as rewards to be earned, but as gifts freely given.

prodigal son, Luke 15, not good enough, mercy of God, grace of God

In fact, the opposite of “earning” is “receiving a free gift.” For example, in the story of the prodigal son, the boy who had squandered his father’s inheritance said, “I will go to my father and say to him. . . ‘I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’  The father’s response, the gift he gave his son, took him by total surprise, “‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. . . Let’s have a feast and celebrate.  For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found’” (Luke 15).

In the same way, our Father loves us so much.  More than we could ever know. That’s why he sent us the free gift of eternal life through his Son Jesus!  And best of all, we can simply accept his precious gift by saying, “I want you, Jesus, to be my Lord and Savior.”

Who wouldn’t want to accept such an amazing free gift of grace?  Goodbye striving.  Goodbye feeling inadequate. Instead, let’s say these words again, “I want you, Jesus, to be my Lord and Savior.”

Notice how receiving this gift is not about being good enough because it is not about what we do. . . Instead, it’s what God has already done for us.

And best of all, when we accept the gift of Jesus, we will never again say, “I’m not good enough” because now, we cannot help but realize how Jesus thought you – yes you – were good enough to die for, and good enough to save.

How’s that for a change of perspective!
