GOD ANSWERS – Knocking on God’s Door – Daily Devotional
No matter how busy I am. . . No matter where I am or who I’m with. . . My kids can always ask for a glass of water when they are thirsty!
Even if you were the President of the United States, your child would have the power to wake you up in the middle of the night and get you out of bed, simply to get them a drink of water.
Jesus took this idea even further when he talked about our heavenly father saying, “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread.” Luke 11:5
Now imagine your friend lying in bed, sleeping, tired and you have the audacity to knock on the door! Even though your friend wouldn’t want to get out of bed, Jesus says, “because of your persistence he will get up and give you as much as you need!” Luke 11:8
Jesus told a story about waking someone up in the middle of the night. It was past midnight when a friend knocked on the door and asked for some bread. Can you imagine your doorbell ringing after midnight!! Luke 11:5
Yet Jesus tells us that God wants us to knock on his door – no matter what the hour. God wants us to see him as our Daddy. He wants us to ask him for help and to seek his wisdom.
And the best part of all is that God will always answer the door.
No matter what our needs. No matter how big or small. No matter where we are or who we are. And God is never sleeping!
God loves us and will always be there for us. Go ahead and knock on God’s door. Jesus promised that the door will be opened. God can’t wait to see you!
He wants to pour you a big glass of living water that will quench your thirst forever. Satisfy your longings. Remove all the uncertainties of life. Extinguish any feelings of insignificance or doubt.
Living water. Ahh. There is nothing better.
