GOD’S LOVE ENDURES – What Do We Value About God? – Daily Devotional
Many of our values seem to be measured by accomplishments, money and success. How big is our house? What did that car cost? How much do you make etc. . .
So what do we value about God?
God has been called the Alpha and Omega, our King, Ruler, Creator and Lord. His names include, “I am,” “The God Most High” and “God Almighty.” He is all-powerful, omnipotent and everlasting. He both revered and feared for his holiness and righteousness.
But out of all this greatness, we value God the very most because he loves us.
Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John’s epistle celebrates God’s identity in three incredible words, “God is Love.” And Psalm 136 says it perfectly, “Give praise to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever!”
Yes – Incredibly – God loves us.
I can’t imagine Psalm 136 saying, “Give praise to the Lord for He is good. His power endures forever!” Or how about: His fame, or greatness endures forever!”
We celebrate God’s love most of all.
Perhaps we are due for a fresh look at what we celebrate about ourselves, including what we strive for. As the world pushes us toward its own definitions of success, sometimes we need to be careful of turning our very important goals into our ultimate goals.
What do you value the most?
