HOW CAN I BELIEVE IN GOD? – Christian Apologetics – Daily Devotional

I once heard a man say, “If you just admit that there is no God, than life is so much easier,” to which his friend responded, “How can you believe in a God you cannot see, smell, hear or touch.  I’ll tell you that I believe in science.”

Both of these men said they had no faith, but the facts are that the first man had faith in money and the second had faith in science.  We all – every one of us – have faith.

We have faith that the airplane will fly through the air, even though we don’t understand how it works.  We have faith in our company, spouse or a friend – until they disappoint us.  We have faith in electricity although most of us don’t know the difference between an ohm and an amp.

Of course, there are hundreds of reasons or excuses not to believe in God.  Sometimes people don’t want to believe in God because they fear that doing so would convict them change their lives.  Others are simply too lazy or stubborn to read the Gospels.  Many approach the Gospel with a preconceived negativity that never allows the words to reach their souls.

There are also those who are disappointed by who or what they decided God should be, so when hardship or struggles happen in their lives, they throw away God – at least they throw away their idea of who they once thought God was – without digging any deeper.

All of this astounds me, simply because the more I learn about God and the more I know him, the better God gets.   And just when I thought God couldn’t get any better, he amazes me, holds and loves me again!   Go God!

Do it again, God!

But believe it or not, there is one very valid reason – just one – that some people hang onto as they choose not to believe in Jesus.  In their mind, they have a rock-solid argument that goes like this:  The message of Jesus is too good to be true.

Yes, God’s love for us is just too good.  Too amazing.  Too beautiful.  So incredible that it leaves me to believe with all my heart!   Praise Jesus for he truly is good beyond anything we could ever possibly imagine!

Amazing Jesus, who had it all, yet became small – like us!  Amazing Jesus, how can it be, that you our Lord have died for us.
