JESUS, HELP US – Daily Devotional
Almost every success coach in the world will agree that the most important ingredients to success are: You have desire and be willing to work. To have a great marriage, own a successful business or to be physically fit – all require desire and work!
How about being an excellent parent, brilliant piano player, or owning a beautiful flower garden? Once again – desire and work are the keys.
Without desire – the work is drudgery. And without work, the desire is just a dream.
Now let’s consider Jesus’ parable of the sower and the seed. Imagine a farmer tossing a handful of seeds through the air. Some of the seeds land in rich soil, but some land on the hard ground where they would lay until the birds ate them.
Jesus went on to say that the hard ground seeds represent people who hear the word of God, but who have no depth to them – meaning they lacked the desire and the effort to understand the word. So God’s word had no chance of growing in them.
So the questions of the day are what do you really desire, and what are you willing to work at?
What do you really – truly want?
Where and how you spend your time and money will certainly tell you a lot.
Let’s pray: Dear Jesus, please help us to desire you the very most of all. Please inspire us to be determined to make you our very first priority. Like any worthwhile relationship, help us to work at it. We want to be rich and receptive soil for the good seed of your word.
