ONE THING – What One Thing Can You Do Today! – Daily Devotions
If you could be any person in history, who would you be?
George Bernard Shaw gave a brilliant and truthful answer when he said, “I would be the man that George Bernard Shaw could have been, but never was.”
Sounds like he had lost potential. Likewise, so many of us have songs inside our hearts that we will never sing, and ideas that will never be acted on.
So often we never even get our ideas off the ground. We never get started. Perhaps it is because Satan knows that a mighty locomotive can be held in place by a single block of wood placed under its wheel so it never gets going. In the same way, he tries to stop us before we ever start.
The enemy knows that same locomotive can go through a brick wall 10 feet thick when under power. Why would Satan want to fight us as we are flying high when all he has to do is clip our wings with fear or regrets to keep us on the ground.
But with God’s grace, we can remove that block of wood. Let’s start by thinking of just one thing that you’ve wanted to do for a long time. Just one thing to make a difference in your life or your relationships. . . Perhaps it is to write a love note, to apologize or to start a project you’ve always dreamed of.
Just simply do the one thing can propel you in the right direction to doing the next thing, and the next and soon the block of wood is gone!
Please say this prayer with me, “Dear Jesus, help me to do one thing today. One thing that will remove the block of wood from my life. Help me to have motion. To take a step in the right direction. To be my very best and bring glory to our Father in heaven.”
