What gadgets do you love the most?  Would your garage door opener, television remote, microwave or computer make the list?  Or how about heating, air-conditioning or power steering in your car?

If you’re like me, you’re mostly clueless as to how these work, but you love them, want them, and to use a faith term, you believe in them.

Let’s go deeper and talk about love.  We cannot touch, taste, see, smell or hear love.  Science may try to describe love by explaining how dopamine and adrenalin chemical reactions occur, but this doesn’t come close to describing the love between a mother and her child.  Understanding love is very complex – yet we certainly believe in love.

In fact, we believe in many things and ideas that we don’t understand.

Consider a smart phone.  How does it follow me if I take a trip to California or Israel?   We could talk about satellites, triangulation, signals and radio-waves till the cows come home, but I’ll never be a smart phone engineer.  But I sure believe in smart phones.

With all this believing in mind, let’s consider the mystery of believing in God.   He is the creator of the world.  He said let there be light.  He created you and me and gave us free will.  Since before creation, God knew all about smart phones and created the ideas inside some folks so they could create them.

So today I want to encourage you that if there are some aspects of God you don’t understand, you can still rest and know it’s okay.  You and I don’t need to have a doctorate in theology to believe the most important thing of all:  That God loves you.

God loves you!  Is that so hard to believe?!!
